Entry Information

Entry Requirements

The Rally is open to pilots (with at least a Sport Pilot license) of single and multi-engine piston aircraft with a minimum range of 400 miles.  Student pilots may participate as pilots if they are accompanied by an appropriately rated flight instructor, otherwise there are no restrictions placed on students.  Copilots/navigators need not be licensed, nor even a pilot, to participate.

The Craneman Rally Entry Scholarship

One of our long-time Rally participants has generously funded a scholarship to pay the crew entry fees for up to three first time rally crews. We would like to invite any CFIs, student pilots (must fly with a CFI), or flight schools to apply.

Application for the scholarship is simple: Indicate your flight school or club affiliation on the entry form page 2 and check the appropriate box on page 3. Do not pay any fees until contacted by the Rally Committee. Please submit your entry form by May 1 for scholarship consideration.

The award of this scholarship is at the sole discretion of the Rally Committee.

Hayward, CA

For 2019, hotel rates have not been negotiated in Hayward. If you need a hotel in Hayward, we suggest the La Quinta. It is just around the corner near the entrance to the Hayward Airport, and is within reasonable walking distance to the rally parking area of the ramp.

Note! As of Jan 23, the La Quinta website indicates they are sold out. However, they have regular King ($135) and executive King ($145, with sofabed) rooms available if you call the hotel front desk directly. The hotel phone number is (510) 732-6300. A small AAA discount is available. This hotel is normally full during the rally, so reserve your room early!

Laughlin, NV

A group of hotel rooms has been blocked at a special rate of $60.99/night, plus taxes and fees at the Aquarius Casino Resort (

Note! The group rate is only available by call-in : 1-800-662-5825. Let the reservation agent know you're booking as part of the Hayward Air Rally, with the group code "C-HAR19" to get this special rate.  For those who wish to extend their stay, a $34.99 +tax/fees rate is available Sun-Thur nights the following week.

You must make your Laughlin hotel reservations before April 15, 2019.  After that, the special rate is no longer available and the standard rack rate will apply, if any rooms are available.
